Figueres, a beautiful city in the province of Barcelona whose name means “Fig Trees”. Birthplace of Salvador Dalí, just 20 minutes from the beaches of the Costa Brava, near France is not as touristy as Barcelona and that is what gives the charm to Figueres.

Visit the Castle of Sant Ferran, the greatest monument of Catalonia, walk from la Rambla Salvador Dalí square. At No. 5 of this place, be sure to visit the Dali Theatre Museum, built on the site of the former Figueres theater now offers a large panel of Dali’s works. Other lovely places are worth seeing as the Plaça de l’Esglesia (“Church Place”), Plaça de les Patates (Potatoes Place) O the Municipal Theater “The Jardí”.

If you are traveling with kids, take them to the Toy Museum of Catalonia in the Paris Hotel in Sant Pere Street, 1. With over 4,000 toys of all kinds, dolls, airplanes, teddy bears and toys of Dalí or Miró, this museum takes you back to childhood. Art lovers have a look at the Empordà Museum, which contains one of the most impressive art collections of Catalonia and even parts of  Museum of Prado.

The Acoustic Festival Figueres, or popularly known as the acoustics, is a music festival held in Figueres since 2002 urban spaces occupies the center of the population in the vicinity of the Dalí Museum. Each year thirty performances in late August and early September are held. The special feature of the festival is that the vast majority of artists performing their repertoire offer or unplugged unplugged format.

The Mostra de l’Empordà is between 5 and 8 September, in Rambla de Figueres. The festival will start on Thursday at 6 pm and the wines from the different exhibitors may be tested until 10 pm. The other days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows is open in the morning (12 to 14h) and late (18 to 22h to 23h Friday).

In the Mostra de Vins de l’Empordà are participating 7 wineries and 6 display more than other areas. The tasting tickets cost 10 € and includes 6 tickets and 6 wines to try for food products. It also includes free drink and glasses-wearing customized.

The Mostra has DO space where you can visit an exhibition of the PDO Empordà with all the information of the participating wineries and main characteristics of the wines of Empordà.




The easiest way to get to Figueres is to take a train from Sants Station, Passeig de Gracia or Clot-Arago.
