These days it has become trendy for diners to sample many different dishes served in small portion sizes. This has caused the increasing popularity of the traditional Tapas bar.

Tapas are essentially small portions of traditional dishes. It’s a form of dining that allows the diner to sample a wide variety of gastronomic delicacies to share among a group of friends.  Tapas really are a foodies paradise. They are normally served in special bars, however these days many sit-down restaurants are adopting the style.

Between the most popular and well known, the following are real stand outs: Tapas 24, El Xampanet, el Quim de la Boqueria or the popular Bar Tomás where they cook the best spicy potatoes (“Patatas bravas”) in Barcelona.
