MICHELIN STARS RESTAURANTS GIRONA PROVINCE
The cuisine of the province of Girona has always played a very prominent role in the field of Catalan gastronomy. Local products of the area are excellent, and they include delights such as prime beef with designation of origin and fresh fish from the fish markets of coastal villages like Palamós, L’Escala or Calella de Palafrugell. These are the foundations of the current culinary prestige of Girona.
Among a host of tasty dishes, we recommend the delicious rice dishes and paellas, the “suquet de peix” (fish stew), the anchovies from L’Escala and any of the elaborate dishes that combine local meat and fish.
Girona Province also has internationally renowned chefs: Ferran Adrià and Joan Roca and his brothers. Their restaurants, El Bulli, which is currently closed, and El Celler de Can Roca have both won the award for “best restaurant in the world” over the course of several years.
