This type of accommodation abounds in the old part of the city of Barcelona. Usually they are found in very old buildings and feature very specific characteristics. The first one is that every room usually comes with its own bathroom, single or king-size bed and very little furniture. They don’t provide any service other than check-in and checkout.

They rarely have shared areas nor the usual services provided by hostels, such as restaurant, room service, laundry, safe, Wi-Fi etc. Guests also have no right to use the kitchen. The counterpart to all this austerity is a significantly low price.

While still belonging to a much lower category than many other types of accommodation, it is more than enough for those who are briefly passing through the city, or for those who only need to use a room to sleep. If choosing this type of accommodation, guests will then need to turn to other venues for any further needs.
